Stab City and my personal project (which I’ll soon reveal the name and whatsit of) are going fine. You can see plenty of my illustrations and further info on the process of The Robotic Age book here: www.facebook.com/TheRoboticAge

Well, if that's all a dragon takes, than the peasants can consider themselves lucky.  And if that's a gold bar on the ground to pay for the meal.....Then they can consider themselves blessed!

Anyways, neat concept.

Now, if she just took the pig, the average peasant family would suffer slightly from it. But if that is the size of the gold bars she gives in repayment, they're essentially set up for life.

Hell if she is willing to pay for pigs with that much gold every time she could eat at my ranch anytime. Hell I'll build a ranch to cater to her people, even cook the meat.

How so? They got paid gold for the pig, probably WAY more than needed but still paid.

i meant more the sudden influx of gold bars
sudden sharp, adventurer related orgy of gold coins
crashes the market

A gold bar for a pig, turning the pig farmer into the richest man in the area. The worth of other people's measly coins plummets and the economy collapses back to a moneyless barter system, except for the pig farmer, who probably got murdered for his gold...

That's not how it would work. The value of his gold would not be sufficient enough to dilute the over all supply of gold to render the value downward. Even if theoretically it were, the value of gold is based regionally as a valuable metal. Since people use gold for other things besides money, it probably wouldn't even effect the value of the coins. His gold would probably be used to make more coins or silverware, jewelry or whatever.

You are right though that he would probably become rich and that would change the state of the economy, but having more money to go around would only improve things, not make them worse.

I guess I also imagined the region as a bunch of farmers, like a cluster of homesteads. If that were the case, it would ruin the economy, however, if there was a city nearby with artisans and etc, then it would merely be a splash in the economy.

Even in just a community of farmers it would ruin the economy. I think you are thinking of a bubble, but this isn't a bubble as the activity isn't being maintained by an external source of revenue. It's a one time off purchase of an animal with a crap ton of gold. All it would do is make him rich, or not depending on their society. I mean it'sweet if you have gold, but if no one wants gold it's a hunk of heavy metal.

Yeah after I replied last time I thought about it... Really it's effect becomes, assuming the gold ends up permeating the market, reducing the value of gold. For farmers, that probably wouldn't affect the economy much...

It's a gold bar dropped by a giant dragon lady.

Real world economics do not apply.
